Vacancy - Bender Commissioning Engineer

We are recruiting an additional commissioning engineer to join our expanding team at Bender UK.

Commissioning engineers are responsible for commissioning, service, rapid response call-out and repair of Bender Medical IT systems (IPS), Theatre Control Panels and Turnkey Theatre Packages.  The work is primarily within the medical sector in leading NHS Trust and Private Medical Hospitals.  Over 500 UK and the Republic of Ireland Hospitals have Bender technology installed, with over 300 contracts to support and maintain this equipment on an annual basis.

Role:

This is a field based role requiring regular travel throughout the UK, with some office based work.

Qualifications required:

·         Electrician 17th Edition

·         Clean Driving Licence

·         Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS card)

·         CCNSG Card

·         DBS checks will be required

Skills/Expectations:

Bender Engineers undergo continuous training, with initial work related and product training provided on:

  • Completing job specific risk assessment and method statements
  • Medical IT Isolated power systems (IPS)
  • Uninterruptable power systems (UPS)
  • Auto change-over systems
  • Membrane and touch screen style surgeons control panels
  • Gateway devices
  • Modbus and Bacnet
  • PLC’s, computers, ability to read electrical drawings
  • BS17th edition, HTM 06-01

Basic knowledge and understanding of the following:

  • Medical gas systems, HVAC and Ventilation systems,

Profile:

Bender UK engineers represent the business on site, dealing with end-customers, contractors and hospital staff.  They are required to be self-motivated, have excellent time management skills, be prepared to work both in a team and on their own. They must be courteous, professional and customer facing.

A company van, mobile phone, laptop and I-pad will be provided. Remuneration includes basic salary plus pension, BUPA after 12 months service, annual bonus, overtime and call-out allowance.

Working hours 8am - 5pm Monday – Thursday, 8am - 2pm Friday, although this is dependent on working location and hours of work as both weekend and out of hours works is required. Based from our new purpose-built headquarters at Low Mill Business Park, Ulverston, it will involve regular travel throughout the UK.

The candidate must meet most of the above criteria.  Experience of working in clinical or hospital environments is of an advantage but is not essential.  Ideally based within one hour’s drive of Ulverston for office work as required.  Product knowledge is not necessary as full training will be provided.
