Schneider Electric and Bender GmbH & Co. KG are stepping up their cooperation. Schneider has completely integrated Bender's insulation monitoring devices into its energy management system EcoStruxure for the health care sector. These Bender devices ensure reliable power supply in critical areas of hospitals (e. g. operating theatres, intensive care units).
For hospitals, Schneider offers reliable and safe solutions for the energy distribution in the medium voltage and low voltage range. A solution for higher energy-efficiency is available with the EcoStruxure system. For operating theatres and intensive-care units unearthed power systems (IT systems) are used together with this system. These unearthed systems require a special safety and circuit technology. Especially for this type of application Bender developed an insulation monitoring device (ISOMETER®) that continuously monitors the insulation resistance of a circuit. In the case of fault currents an alarm is triggered, but the power supply is not cut off, as a sudden loss of power in such sensitive areas could endanger patients or destroy valuable examination results. Contrary to conventional TN-S systems, the system can still be operated after a first fault until the system can be switched off for a repair without any danger.
Bender GmbH & Co. KG is a pioneer and market leader for electrical safety products in hospitals, the industry, and electro-mobility. The development and production of components permitting safe and reliable power supply for the sensitive medical sector is one of its key areas. The family-owned company, based in Grünberg/Hesse, was founded in 1946. Bender currently employs around 1,100 people in 15 countries.
Schneider Electric is a globally operating manufacturer of products for building installations, electrical energy-distribution systems, energy management systems, and automation and measurement technology. The company is based in France and has more than 140,000 employees in 150 countries. The German branch with headquarters in Ratingen employs approximately 4,700 staff in Germany.
EcoStruxure by Schneider Electric is an open and interoperable plug-and-play architecture and platform capable of supporting IoT designed for households, industrial systems, hospitals and computing centres. It enables customers to improve their energy efficiency and sustainability.
