Modular residual current devices of type MRCDB425 are designed for AC/DC sensitive residual and fault current measurement in earthed TN and TT networks. The devices can be used as an additional protective measure for the following protection goals, among others:

Protection against indirect contact (DIN VDE 0100-410, IEC60364-4-41)
Protection against thermal effects (DIN VDE 0100-420, IEC60364-4-42)
System protection (DIN VDE 0100-430, IEC60364-4-43)
Protection against fire risks (DIN VDE 0100-530, IEC60364-5-53)

A modular residual current device in accordance with product standard DIN EN 60947-2 Annex M must be operated together with a suitable measuring current transformer (CTUB102-CTBCxxx(P)) and a circuit breaker with undervoltage release, which switches off under load within a maximum of 20 ms.

Applications

As a protective measure for the installation of a residual current device within the scope of protection objectives for personal safety, fire protection and system protection.
Generally as an alternative to conventional RCDs at higher voltages and currents, possible false tripping of these RCDs, as well as flexible adaptation to system conditions.
