The RS4 Tier 1 is our most advanced rail signalling protection system, providing comprehensive insulation monitoring and resistance measurement across signal power networks. Expanding on the proven fixed-installation RS4 technology trusted across the UK rail network, the portable system enables teams to deploy Tier 1 insulation monitoring at a specific rail location without the need for permanent installation. This makes it particularly valuable for temporary fault investigations and monitoring, as well as for scheduled planned engineering works.
The rugged, compact IP65-rated Peli case features our proprietary monitoring technology and offers 12 hours of battery life, providing a practical solution for use in challenging rail environments, where unplanned or engineer-enabled fault location of lesser monitored systems is necessary.
Designed with efficiency in mind, the Portable RS4 Tier 1 supports faster fault-finding by narrowing search areas and identifying whether issues are upstream or downstream. This helps reduce time spent on track and minimises disruption to operations, saving cost and time for rail network operators. Cloud-based access is available via Bender Connect, which provides remote visibility of system performance.
For added flexibility, the unit can be customised to connect to mains power for longer-term trend monitoring, making it easier to detect intermittent faults, such as those caused by environmental conditions, and to identify early signs of insulation degradation before they develop into failures.
The Portable RS4 Tier 1 is PADS-approved (0054/213796) and complements our established rail Tier 1 monitoring solutions, which are deployed across hundreds of UK rail locations.
